Tibetan Buddhism is often referred to as Esoteric Buddhism.
Tibetan Buddhism retains some of the secret Vedic practices that have been one
of the foundations of Hindu mysticism for centuries. The classical Buddhist
teachings emphasizing personal responsibility and self-reliance are combined
with a cosmology of symbolic representational deities that are propitiated and
their principles and aspects of power invoked.
This mantra helps develop the true desire for higher states
of the mind called Bodhi Chitta, and prepares the mind to receive
enlightenment.
The mantra is:
GATE GATE, PARA GATE, PARASAM GATE,
BODHI SWAHA
Gone, Gone, Gone Beyond, Gone Beyond Even Beyond, Hail to
the Goer!
