Dear reader, thank you once more for being here to
learn a new mantra.
I want to take opportunity to talk a little bit more
about Ganesha.
He is the son of Shiva and spouse Parvati. Shiva,
along with Brahma and Vishnu is part of the masculine trinity of the Hindu
pantheon.
The Scriptures tell us that from the powerful union of
Shiva with his Shakti Parvati, in the total merge of masculine and feminine,
the world was created. From this union Ganesha was born, and for this reason he
is closely related to the Sanskrit symbol OM, which represents the creation of
the Universe.
Ganesha has a brother named Subramanya, whose main
attribute is that off good luck. Ganesha is normally depicted sitting in a
throne with a bowl of swits in one hand, as a sign of abundance. On his other
hands he carries weapons to destroy ignorance. His vehicle is a rat, and he is
normally sitting on top of it, smashing it. The rat represents and the ego,
therefore he helps us smash our ego.
Ganesha is a masculine deity, but has no Sprouse like
the other gods. Nevertheless, the Scriptures mention to spouses of Ganesha,
which in reality are two attributes:
Siddhi: The magical powers attributed by each one of
his mantras.
Buddhi: The knowledge to obtain these powers.
The magical power of this particular month ago that
will learn in today, is of concentration: in our studies, work, or any thing we
put our mind to.
The Mantra is:
OM SRI GANESHAYA NAMAHA
OM Sanskrit symbol
representing the creation of the Universe
SRI Title of reverence
GANESHAYA Name of the deity with the masculine suffix
NAMAHA I salute and honor you
