Saraswati Gayatri

Today we will be learning the Gayatri Mantra for the Maha Saraswati, the great goddess of knowledge.

All of the deity Gayatri Mantras have a similar construction, where they start with the Sanskrit symbol OM, representing the ceation of the Universe, folowed by the name of the deity and the word Vidmahe, where we are calling the intelligence and gifts of the deity.

Then we pronounce a different name for the same deity, followed by the Word Dhimahi, where we invoke their wisdom as a sage, then we ask a manifestation (Tanno) of the deity to illumine our intellect (Prachodayat)

The mantra is:
OM VAG DEVIEY-CHA VIDMAHE
KAMA RAJAYA DIMAHI
TANNO DEVI PRACHODAYAT

Mantra for Spiritual Knowledge

Saraswati is the spouse of Brhamma, the creator, and therefore the power behind his knowledge. The Saraswati mantra we are learning today is also known as the Maha Vidya Mantra, the mantra for great knowledge. This is a sequence of bijas, or seed sounds, many of which we are very familiar with by now, and these make this mantra so powerful.

The Mantra is:

AIM HRIM SRIM KLIM
SAUH KLIM HRIM AIM
BLUM STRIM NILATARI SARASWATI
DRAM DRIM KLIM BLUM
SAH AIM HRIM KLIM
SAUH SAUH KLIM SWAHA

Blessing of the food

This is a collection of Mantras that are used in the pujas or worship ceremonias to bless the food offered to the deities, or simply after we cook our own food, right before we eat. Because these prayers imply an offering to the Hindu deities, I do not reccomend chanting this when you cook any sot of animal flesh. Only for vegetariano or vegan food. If you’d like to blees your meat products, please use a different prayer.
These mantras where taugh to me by the teachers of my lineage, Namadeva Acharya, Satguru Rama Mata, and Sri Muralidhar Pai. I do not have a translation for them, but you can always reap the benefits of the chanting.

The Mantras are:

BRAHMA PARNAM BRAHMA HAVIR
BRAHMAGNAU BHAMANA HUTAM
BRAHMAIVA TENA GUNTAVYAM
BRAHMA KARMA SAMADHINA
HARI OM TAT SAT
ANAPURNE SADA PURNE
SHANKARA PRANA VALLABHE
JNANA VAIRAGYA SIDDYARTHAM
BIKSHAN DEHICHA PARVATI
MATHA-CHA PARVATI DEVI
PITA DEVO PARAMESHWARA
BANDHAVA SHIVA BHAKTAS-CHA
SWADESHO BHUVANA TRAYAM

Mantras for when we wake up and go to bed

Today we will be learning a couple of mantras taught by me directy by Satguru Rama Mata. It should be chanted right when we wake up, and right before w ego to sleep. With this Mantra we are asking for the blessings of the three main goddesses of the Hindu pantheon, and we look at different parts of our hands:

Gazing at  our hands together in front of our face we chant:
KARAGRE VASATE LAKSHMI
At the top og the hands, I invoke goddess Lakshmi
KARAMADHYE SARASWATIHI
At the middle og the hands, I invoke goddess Saraswati
KRAMULE TITWA GAURI
At the bottom of the hands, I invoke goddess Parvati
PRABHATE KARA DARSHANAM
I ask to receive the blessings of the triple goddess

There are different versions of this mantra. I am passing down what was taught to me by Satguru Rama Mata.

The other mantra we chant right after this one, but only in the morning.
SAMUDRA VASAME DEVI                She wears the ocean as her robe
PARVATASTHANA MANDITE         Her breast is like the mountains
MAHA LAKSHMI NAMASTUBYAM   I honor you Oh great goddess Lakshmi
PADA SPARSHA KSHAMASWAME  Please forgive me for steping my feet on your blessed earth!
