32 Aksharams of the Narasimha Mantra


Today we are emphasizing each and every one of the 32 syllables of the very powerful Narasimha we learned last week, where each one of the 32 syllables is related to a different deity or aspect of God.
This practice of reciting this enhances the power of the mantra.

The mantra is chanted once, as follows:
OM UGRAM VEERAM MAHA VISHNUM
JWALANTAM SARVATO-MUKHAM
NARASIMHAM BHEESHANAM BHADRAM
MRYTYUM MRYTYUM NAMAMYAHAM

(1) Om Um Om, Yo-Vai Narasimho Devo Bhagavan ,
Yascha Brahma tasmai-vai namo namaha

(2) Om Gram Om, Yo-Vai Narasimho Devo Bhagavan ,
Yascha Vishnu tasmai-vai namo namaha

(3) Om Veem Om, Yo-Vai Narasimho Devo Bhagavan ,
Yascha Maheshwara tasmai-vai namo namaha

(4) Om Rám Om, Yo-Vai Narasimho Devo Bhagavan ,
Yascha-Purusha tasmai-vai namo namaha

(5) Om Mám Om, Yo-Vai Narasimho Devo Bhagavan ,
Yascha Eashwara tasmai-vai namo namaha

(6) Om Haam Om, Yo-Vai Narasimho Devo Bhagavan ,

Yascha Vedhaa: Sanga sashaka tasmai-vai namo namaha

(14) Om Thom Om, Yo-Vai Narasimho Devo Bhagavan ,
Ye-Pancha-khanya tasmai-vai namo namaha

(15) Om Múm Om, Yo-Vai Narasimho Devo Bhagavan ,
Ya Saptha Vya-Hridaya tasmai-vai namo namaha

(16) Om Kám Om, Yo-Vai Narasimho Devo Bhagavan ,
Ye Sashtow Loka-Pala tasmai-vai namo namaha

(17) Om Nrám Om, Yo-Vai Narasimho Devo Bhagavan ,
Ye Shashtow-Vasava  tasmai-vai namo namaha

(18) Om Sim Om, Yo-Vai Narasimho Devo Bhagavan ,
yecha-Rudra tasmai-vai namo namaha

(19) Om Hám Om, Yo-Vai Narasimho Devo Bhagavan ,
yecha A-ditya tasmai-vai namo namaha

Ye saAshtou Graha tasmai-vai namo namaha

Yani Pancha Maha Bhootani tasmai-vai namo namaha

Yascha-Jeeva tasmai-vai namo namaha

(32) Om Ham Om, Yo-Vai Narasimho Devo Bhagavan ,
Yascha-Sarvam tasmai-vai namo namaha

OM UGRAM VEERAM MAHA VISHNUM
JWALANTAM SARVATO-MUKHAM
NARASIMHAM BHEESHANAM BHADRAM
MRYTYUM MRYTYUM NAMAMYAHAM

O Lord Vishnu, O Narasimha (Man-Lion God, the fourth incarnation of MahaVishnu), protect me from death; destroy the death and bless me with immortality.
May the fire emerging from your mouth reduce the devil to ashes. Salutations.

Another translation: ‘I bow down to Naṛasimha who is terrible, valorous, blazing like the fire or the sun, all-pervading, awful, death of even the god of death, and yet, the ever-auspicious Mahāvisnu!’
